![]() Who is to say what source you used to draw your own map?Īnd Google maps has a text here about their copyrights where they discuss "commercial purposes" and "fair usage". I mean, maps are based on the world, and the world is not protected by a copyright.ĮDIT: As a example this map here is copyright protected but the regions on that map are not, they excist on their own and are portrayed on many maps and images in many different ways. I don't know for sure, but that would seem to be OK. Nevertheless, I don't think it's particularly challenging from a technical point of view as it's a visual editor. If you wait, it might make things easier with the tutorial video. TravisII is probably going to do a tutorial video also in the next few weeks (not sure though?). The challenging part of map modding is the time it takes to draw & finally test a map! TravisII & I spent probably close to 50 hours over a period of 40 days to fully draw out 900+ provinces and 110+ nations in the world map. It's a visual editor! You will not need to program/code. The gist of modding is (a) to select an image to use (b) to draw the provinces, links, add nations etc. You should be able to figure out things fairly easily. I generally think it isn't that difficult to master from a how-to point of view. Disclaimer: I am probably the wrong person to ask as I have implemented the editor & know it in and out. ![]()
